Online Check-In
The best way to check-in for your Air New Zealand flight is through online check-in. This service is available to all passengers who hold a valid e-ticket (all tickets issued by Opodo are e-tickets) and are not flying from Ngurah Rai (Bali), Singapore, Niue, or Norfolk Island. At some airports, you can also check-in without printing your ticket by simply transferring it to your mobile phone. Online check-in for most Air New Zealand flights starts 24 hours before the scheduled departure time. If you wish to check-in baggage, the check-in counters for domestic flights in New Zealand close 30 minutes before departure and for international flights, depending on the destination, they close 60 to 75 minutes before departure.
Hand Baggage
For flights with Air New Zealand, the allowed hand baggage is limited to a maximum weight of 7 kg. The total dimensions of all sides (height + width + length) must not exceed 118 cm for you to carry your hand baggage in the cabin. Additionally, you are allowed to carry one personal item such as a camera, slim laptop bag, jacket, handbag, walking stick, or reading material. In Business Class and Premium Economy Class, the weight allowance for hand baggage is increased to 14 kg, with no individual piece weighing more than 10 kg.
Baggage Policy
With Air New Zealand, there is the option to pre-book additional baggage through Opodo. If you already know that you will require additional baggage, we recommend this option to avoid unnecessary costs and stress. Additionally, when booking for multiple passengers, you can share the pre-booked additional baggage among all passengers, finding the most economical solution. Please note that no single piece of baggage should weigh more than 32 kg, as it would need to be transported as cargo. The total dimensions of standard baggage (height + width + length) should not exceed 158 cm. In Economy Class, one piece of baggage is included in the ticket price, in Premium Economy Class, two pieces are allowed, and in Business Class, a maximum of three pieces of baggage weighing up to 23 kg each is permitted.
