Turkish Airlines was founded back in 1933. Today Turkish Airlines is one of the most important airlines in Europe, based in Istanbul. The home airport and the main hub is Istanbul Ataturk Airport. Due to its extensive flight network and comparatively inexpensive ticket tariffs, Turkish Airlines was awarded the prestigious Skytrax Passengers Choice Award as the best airline in Europe in 2013. Turkish Airlines is a member of the Star Alliance, which includes SAS, Air China, Swiss and United Airlines.

Turkish Airlines Online Check-in

For the check-in you have to enter your flight ticket number or optionally the booking code and then you have to enter certain information from the passport. You can also reserve your seat (you can look on the website for more information). Finally, print out your boarding pass or have it emailed to you as a PDF document.

The Turkish Airlines online check-in service opens 24 hours before departure at the earliest and closes 90 minutes before departure at the latest.

Turkish Airlines recommends arriving at the check-in counter for international flights at least two hours before the scheduled departure time, as the counters close 60 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

Turkish Airlines luggage

For international flights from Germany, the economy class ticket price includes one piece of luggage weighing a maximum of 30 kg and for business class it is 40 kg. The luggage of small children (0-2 years) is limited to 10 kg plus 1 foldable stroller or buggy. These free baggage allowances can vary considerably if you are not flying from Germany.

If you fly internationally, various food and drink services are offered depending on the length of the flight. When booking, you can also pre-order a special menu (e.g. vegetarian, halal, etc.) at no additional cost. The selection of main courses ranges from meat to fish and poultry dishes to pasta alternatives and is served with your selected drink.
